TECNIPÃO 2026: Bakery, Pastry, Chocolate, and Ice Cream Sector meets in Porto

Porto is preparing to host the next edition of TECNIPÃO, Portugal's leading bakery and pastry trade fair, in 2026. With the aim of boosting the sector and raising awareness of new trends and the latest solutions in equipment, ingredients, and technologies, the event will feature the following segments: Food Packaging, focused on packaging solutions, and ICE CREAM, focused on artisanal and industrial ice cream.

Baking and Pastry on the rise

The baking and pastry sector in Portugal currently has around 6,000 companies. The figures show a positive trend. In 2023, the turnover of industrial bakeries and pastry shops reached €1.06 billion, marking a 12.8% increase compared to 2022. Exports increased by 14% to €358 million.

Chocolate and ice cream consumption soars

More than 65 percent of the population consumed ice cream, representing more than 4.8 million consumers, according to Marktest's TGI study.

Chocolate consumption is also trending. Around 57.3 percent of Portuguese people aged between 15 and 74 consumed chocolate bars or snacks in the last 12 months, a figure which, despite a slight decline in recent decades, still represents a significant market.
