Batalha welcomes natural stone buyers from all over the world

Preparations for the fifth edition of STONE, which will take place from June 1 to 4, are already in full swing.

The STONE- Natural Stone Exhibition of Portugal has already a defined date. Between the 1st and the 4th of June, it will take place at EXPOSALÃO, in Batalha, another fair destined to the national stone sector. A meeting place for companies from the industry and importers from all over the world.

Every two years, whenever STONE is held, it reaches new milestones. The last edition had more than 15,000 visitors from 36 countries. During the days of the event, around 245 international representatives from major companies in the global market passed through Batalha.

This is a key sector for the national economy. Portugal is the 8th world producer of natural stone with earnings of around 400 million euros/year, thanks to exports to the four corners of the world.
In the national context, the sector is also very important. There are 2300 companies and more than 24 thousand workers in the ornamental stones industry in Portugal.

All the exhibiting companies at STONE have no doubt of the importance of the exhibition for their business and the growth of the economy. The dynamics of the event promotes competitiveness in the market, due to the proximity to local quarries.

STONE is the Iberian Peninsula's largest fair dedicated to the natural stone industry, with innovations in all segments, from technology, equipment, transformation and extraction.

"In the Batalha area hundreds of stone blocks go out for export. This does not represent any loss for the country and still makes the local economy richer and more active," highlighted José Frazão, promoter of STONE, reinforcing the importance of the event. "It is a fair that represents the importance of ore extraction in Portugal."
